MY STORY

Adrian Ventura is a Zimbabwean acoustic alt rock singer-songwriter with chilled ska/reggae influences.

Currently based in the Lake District in the UK, he performs live music across the North West of England and online through Facebook & Instagram.  However, Adrian was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and raised there by parents who, he says, have impeccable musical taste – not every kid gets to grow up on Queen, The Beatles, Free…

From this he grew to love rock music and dreamed of writing and playing his own.  His music is acoustic alt rock (adult alternative) with a ska/reggae twist.  He cites his influence from artists such as Sublime, Dirty Heads, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley, and Jack Johnson.

Adrian first started singing in junior school choir, having joined “because of a girl”…. yet at high-school he developed a crippling fear of singing in public. His voice was one of the highest in the school, and often led him to ridicule from those with the manlier voices!  Adrian just resigned himself to muttering under his breath whenever people around him sang.

Moving to the UK when he was 16 years old, he discovered Sublime and alternative music.  With the encouragement of good friends he taught himself how to play the guitar at 18, relearning how to sing by singing along with Freddy Mercury as Queens Greatest Hits I – III blared in his headphones!  He started performing filler slots at other musicians gigs, and later open mics.  Building his sound and following, he started performing his own gigs and writing songs.

Adrian is currently promoting his latest EP ‘Sometime. Maybe? Yeah! with the single ‘Dance With Me’ being featured on Cumbrian radio stations & ‘BBC Introducing.’  While the music is relaxing, and chilled, there is an upbeat feel and permeating positivity in his own compositions.

It’s Adrian’s ambition to build his connection with his fanbase and forge a living making the music he loves.
